Slate Wagon By Jamie Ellis
Used to bring the slate down from the quarries to the ports, the first slate trains ran downhill by gravity, with a horse to pull the empties back up again. As demand for slate grew, this duty was filled by steam locos, such as the Hunslet Quarry engines.
